Ruth Braunhuber

When Ruth's youngest Spencer was just 3 months, she was at a local park and saw a group of women and strollers. She rolled up to ask if there was an event. It was a play group after a Stroller Strides class! She joined up and found her place. Three months later she became an instructor and several months after that she had her own park. She has been a Stroller Strides instructor now for two years and took over ownership of FIT4MOM SE Portland/Happy Valley at the end of 2017.

After growing up in Happy Valley, Ruth Braunhuber went off to Wisconsin for her degree in Asian Studies. She has spent time in China and when she returned to Portland she went to beauty school. Ruth spent 10 years as a hairstylist in SW Portland. She met her husband on a co-ed soccer team and they had their oldest boy Calvin in 2012. He had quite the birth experience, being born at 30 weeks and spending his first two months in the NICU. When she was pregnant with her second son Spencer her family received an opportunity to transfer to Austin for her husbands work. It meant she could stay home with the boys and they jumped on the opportunity. They eventually moved back to Portland, and Ruth became the owner of FIT4MOM SE Portland/Happy Valley. In 2022, she sold the franchise to Sydney Zaylor, but currently coaches Body Well and Run Club+.

Ruth says, "Fit4Mom has given me so much. I grew up in sports and played collegiate soccer. Stroller Strides gave me the opportunity to share that love of fitness with my kids. I did not know anyone when we moved to Austin and through Fit4Mom I found the most amazing, supportive group of women and friends. Through our play dates and Mom's Nights Out I have also had an introduction to all the fun things to do in Austin. Fit4Mom has all around enriched my life."
